What makes Lakeside Gardens different from other seniors communities?

Lakeside Gardens offers a serene setting in a convenient location on the shores of Long Lake, close to shopping, medical facilities, parks, and the ferry terminal. We pride ourselves on providing a home-like atmosphere, and this feeling is created by our staff, who are caring individuals who are dedicated to the well-being of our residents.

Many of our staff has been with us since Lakeside Gardens opened in 1998 and are proud to be part of a special seniors’ community.

What’s included in my monthly rent?

There are no “hidden extras” at Lakeside Gardens. The monthly fee includes everything except your personal telephone charges. Rent covers your suite, three meals a day, housekeeping, bus service, emergency attendant service, cable and all utilities.

Will my suite have a view?

Yes, all suites at Lakeside Gardens have a view. You will see either Long Lake, lush gardens or majestic Mount Benson from your suite.

How rigid are your dining rules? Is there assigned seating? Will I have to stand in line?

We believe meals should be a pleasure, not a chore. There is no assigned seating in the dining room and meals are served over two-hour periods so there’s no waiting in line. You can relax and enjoy dining while taking in the view of Long Lake. In addition to our dining room service, a continental breakfast is served on all four floors each morning.

Can my pet live with me at Lakeside Gardens?

Yes, small pets are welcome at Lakeside Gardens. We want our residents to feel at home here.

How easy is it to get around Nanaimo?

It’s very easy! The Lakeside Gardens’ bus service is available for shopping trips, church, medical appointments, or other destinations. It’s safe, convenient, and free.

Is there parking for my car?

Yes, Lakeside Gardens offers complimentary parking for residents’ vehicles.

Is there a guest suite where my family or friends can stay?

Yes, a comfortable suite is available to rent at a reasonable rate for out-of-town family and friends.
